I'm bumping this thread in hopes that someone has some more ideas on this topic. If anyone has had any luck with setting up an ALDL data stream on their car, I'd appreciate any input. I'm also going to try TunerPro to see if that helps. I'm going to try to make it work on my 90' z71 to make sure it's not the cable itself. It's a USB cable so no need to pull 12v like the serial cables sometimes need. In WinALDL I'm using the "CLCC 1984 car, 1985, 1986" setting.

COM port is set properly, the software recognizes the port and gives it the ok. Unfortunately I've been unable to actually have anything show up on my laptop. <- Can anyone verify that this is the case? With the white wire into Pin D, and the 10k ohm resistor into Pin A/B, the mixture control solenoid fires up and the Service Engine light begins to light up and blink, as if data is streaming out of the ECM. With just the bare pin cable inserted (white wire into Pin D, black wire into Pin A (ground)) per instructions, nothing happens. It also comes with a 10k ohm resistor that plugs into pin sockets A and B if needed to start the data flow.

(The normal OBD1 cable they sell pulls from Pin E, which is blank on our cars). I purchased a "bare pin" cable from so that I can access Pin D on the ALDL where the Monte streams data from. I looked at past posts and saw that at least one person has got this to work, so I'm hoping I can get some more info.
